INS-22

INS-22 is a glycoprotein that binds to specific cell surface receptors to stimulate the development and production of red blood cells.

INS-22 is a synthetic version produced by recombinant technology in mammalian cells called Chinese Hamster Ovary cells. The recombinant glycoprotein has the same biological effects as naturally occurring human erythropoietin and is used to treat conditions where the body does not have enough red blood cells, (anemia), in certain medical conditions such as anemia associated with chronic kidney failure, cancer chemotherapy, HIV-therapy, or in anemic patients before undergoing surgery.
